Orchard Art Studio

A disused garage forming part of a modern Bungalow in Clandon was transformed into a practical and peaceful artist's studio. We worked closely with the artist to discover her working patterns, the media she used, the scale of her materials and her storage needs. In this way we were able to create an entirely individualised space which was perfectly tailored to the artists needs and appeared completely ingrained in the existing building. We were careful to design a space where the artist could control the light depending on the time of day and the kind of work she was doing. The room layout was meticulously designed to allow her to have all her media to hand, accommodating her extensive materials, vary her working height and position and display her work.
